Building in the Texas Hill Country

Over the past few weeks this guest house has slowly gone from sketches, dirt, concrete, and lumber piles into something that’s finally starting to feel real.
Walking through it now and seeing the vaulted ceilings, loft framing, and all the natural light coming through the Andersen windows has honestly been a pretty emotional feeling at times.
There are still muddy boots, lumber stacks, and tools everywhere, but you can finally start to feel what the space is going to become.

One of my favorite parts so far has been seeing little reminders that this is still very much ranch life in the middle of a construction site — chicken footprints and dog prints stamped across the rafters and subfloors, horses wandering over to inspect the progress, and the emotional moment of seeing the cross finally go up.
Huge thank you to Rustic Ranch Homes for the framing work, MG Building Materials for helping keep the project moving, and Adore Building Elements for the beautiful Andersen windows that are quickly becoming one of our favorite features of the house.
There’s still a long way to go, but slowly this place is starting to feel warm, peaceful, and connected to the Texas Hill Country around it.
This project has also become inspiration for the kind of warm, timeless outdoor living spaces we love creating through Liquid Art Pools.
